B.R. Cohn (Sonoma), Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2006: ★★★★ (07/09/09)
This week we'd like to bring you a little gold nugget from the valley of Sonoma. Generally, we try to focus on wines that can be bought in Japan, but this was too good not to share from our travels back to Wine Country U.S.A. B.R. Cohn, owned by Bruce Cohn who made much fame managing the acclaimed U.S. rock band the Doobie Brothers, produces a great little bottle of cabernet sauvignon called the Silver Label that is not only remarkably tasty, but is a devil of a value. We like to call it a T.V. wine as it can be eaten with food but also sipped over the tube by itself. Smooth tastes of berry, cassis and black cherry give you a savor and the French oak aging completes the wine and adds some nice and relaxed tannins in the process. For the value, we rate the wine 4-★ as we think its well worth the cost for the content of the bottle. Note: B.R. Cohen also hosts great events including weddings, parties and other private affairs where the wine can be enjoyed at the winery (Retail U.S. $25). -Lloyd & Company
